Attractions: On International Drive
These attractions are a 10- to 15-minute drive from the Disney area and 5 to 10 minutes from Universal Orlando. Most appeal to special interests, but one is free (the Peabody Ducks' show) and another, Wet 'n' Wild, is in a class that includes WDW's top two water parks: Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach.
The Hard Rock Vault, a $32 million collection of guitars, rock star costumes, photos, and other memorabilia owned by Hard Rock Cafe International, opened in late 2002. It's in The Mercado, a shopping and entertainment plaza on International Drive (tel. 407/445-7625, ext. 2420; www.hardrock.com/Vault). Among the treasures: A pair of Jim Morrison's leather pants, Buddy Holly's signature specs, and an Elvis Presley electric guitar. Speaking of Elvis, he hasn't left this building. In fact, he has his own room -- The King's Chamber. Admission costs $14.95 adults, $8.95 kids.
